Claire and I have performed in our acoustic duo in and around Norfolk for many years. After joining the Claire Barker Band, it wasn't long before we started playing in our duo. One problem with a duo consisting of an acoustic guitar and singer is that this type of lineup is really only suited to background music.

As we both love playing in the duo and we work really well together, we searched for ways to create a bigger sound. If we were booked to play an evening gig, an acoustic duo isn't usually an act that can get people dancing. Until now...

The easiest way to solve the problem of creating a bigger sound is to use backing tracks. Claire and I share the same opinion on this. We want to keep the music live and not use backing tracks. Although we will play recorded music in any breaks if required, when we play live... we play LIVE!

It has been a while since we uploaded videos to YouTube (copyright laws make uploading cover songs very difficult), so we thought a video demonstrating our percussion pedal is desperately needed. We recently recorded some song snippets and put together a video demonstrating our acoustic duo band sound.

We still perform many background music gigs such as wedding ceremonies, the wedding breakfast, entertaining wedding guests during photos, corporate events, etc., although as you can hear from the video, the addition of foot percussion makes a huge difference.

Since adding percussion, harmony vocals via a pedal and Claire's added tambourine (she even plays the harmonica on selected songs!), our sound is much larger.
