It's been a tough journey...

Solo, acoustic guitar!

As with many of my musician friends, the coronavirus lockdown has resulted in the longest gig-free period since I was a pre-teen. As the lockdown eases and at the time of writing, pubs and venues will be opening soon, weddings will be allowed with restrictions and the possibility of playing live once again draws closer.

If you are getting married or would like live music at your venue, it will be a while before things return to normal. Singing is not allowed, social distancing needs to be implemented and loud music that causes people to raise their voices is taboo. There is however an answer...

Yes, solo acoustic guitar is possible!

Ready To Perform!

  • All instrumental, so no singing.
  • Background music, so excessive volume is not a problem.
  • It is only me, so I am socially distanced.
  • I can play outdoors and people are encouraged to be outside.
  • When the number of people is restricted, I only take up one space.

Weddings And Events

If you would like to have live music at your wedding or venue once again, I have a pop-up gazebo which keeps me self-contained outside in case it rains. I have always tried to include as many styles as possible when performing solo acoustic guitar gigs, so there will be something to suit everybody's musical tastes.

Ceremony Only?

If you are having a wedding ceremony only and not a reception, I can perform whilst your guests arrive, during the ceremony and afterwards so that you and your guests can still enjoy live music on your special day.

Set The Mood...

From July 4th, small weddings and civil partnership ceremonies will be possible if strict guidelines are followed. Not only singing but even speaking loudly is forbidden due to the transfer of respiratory droplets through the air. A virtually silent wedding will certainly lack atmosphere, but the mood can still be set with the addition of solo acoustic guitar.

Lockdown Videos

Although I have not played any gigs since the beginning of the lockdown, I have kept myself busy teaching online and recording various videos. I have posted my videos on various platforms, so I thought it would be good to have them all in one place, so here are my lockdown videos so far:
As you can see, I have uploaded a variety of videos - solo guitar, duo, original material and with the Claire Barker Band. These videos were uploaded to various platforms, on which you will find much more content.

Teaching Guitar Online

Online guitar teaching has worked much better than I could have possibly imagined. I spent a great deal of time working out how I could use all of the resources in my studio to deliver the best possible experience for my students.

I now have a suite of professional software and specialist equipment that works extremely well when teaching online and the feedback from my students has been very encouraging.

Paul is an outstanding guitar teacher. I take my lessons online as I'm based overseas. They are very well structured and tailored to musical taste and playing ability. Enjoying lots and can't recommend him highly enough.

Guitar Courses Coming Soon!

I recently closed my guitar subscription site to new users as I have outgrown the current platform and I will soon be launching a series of online guitar courses. Existing users are still able to access my book, supporting videos and all other material.

First came the printed book, then digital (available to purchase in iBooks), followed by my subscription site. I am very excited about launching the next stage in my book's journey!
