The Best Phone Holder for Guitarists – KraftGeek JustTap Magnetic Tripod Review

The Best Phone Holder for Guitarists
KraftGeek JustTap Magnetic Tripod ReviewIf you record your guitar playing — whether it’s for practice, YouTube, or social media — you’ll know how fiddly phone holders can be. Traditional clamp-style holders often press your phone’s buttons, send accidental emergency calls, and generally take too long to set up.
Recently, the awesome team at KraftGeek sent me their JustTap Magnetic Phone Tripod, and I’ve been using it non-stop ever since. It’s a tripod and selfie stick in one, and it’s easily the best phone holder for guitarists I’ve tried.
Why Guitarists Will Love This Phone Holder
If you record your guitar practice sessions or film YouTube content, this tripod makes setup effortless.
I often position my phone behind my main camera to follow scripts or notes while filming. My previous phone holder used a side clamp system — awkward, slow, and unreliable. The JustTap tripod’s magnetic mount eliminates all of that.
Simply attach your phone magnetically, adjust the central pole, and you’re ready to go. No more squeezing clamps or worrying about knocking buttons!

Easy Setup and Smart Design
To use the phone holder, just pull out the central pole and lock it in position. The clever design allows filming directly overhead, perfect for close-up guitar shots or table-top angles.
As with one of the KraftGeek music stands I’ve reviewed before, it features their trademark “tap-to-open” base — tap it on the floor and the tripod instantly opens! One hand, and you’re set up in seconds.
To close it, simply lift the collar and push the legs back in. Simple, solid, and satisfying.
Height and Build Quality
The adjustable height is impressive — from a compact desktop size to a maximum of 168cm (66"), tall enough for most filming needs.
The 10-section, aluminium alloy telescopic rod is made from aircraft-grade aluminium alloy, so it feels premium and robust. KraftGeek claims it’s passed over 10,000 drop tests, which is reassuring if you plan to take it on the road or to gigs.

Magnetic Mounting (Even If Your Phone Doesn’t Have MagSafe)
My phone is an older model and doesn’t support MagSafe, so I initially thought I’d have issues. Luckily, KraftGeek includes an adhesive metal ring — once I stuck it inside my phone case, it worked perfectly with the magnetic mount.
So even if your phone doesn’t have built-in MagSafe, you can still enjoy the same convenience. And yes — it even works (surprisingly well) through thicker cases!
Bluetooth Remote Control
No tripod is complete without a remote, and this one’s fantastic. It connects via Bluetooth (range up to 33ft / 10m) and cleverly stores magnetically inside one of the tripod legs — no chance of losing it.
It’s rechargeable via USB-C, so no disposable batteries needed. Simply hold the button to power it on or off, and tap to start or stop recording on your phone. Easy.

Extra Versatility
Attach the magnetic ring to an iPad case, and voilà — you’ve got an iPad stand. It’s that versatile.
It only weighs 0.45kg (15.8oz), so it’s extremely portable. I’ll definitely be taking it to gigs — it’s ideal for quickly capturing behind-the-scenes footage or impromptu moments at weddings and events. (The bride and groom always appreciate extra candid footage!)
Final Thoughts
I now own several KraftGeek products, and they’ve all impressed me with their design and durability. The JustTap tripod has completely replaced my old phone holder, and it’s made filming guitar videos so much easier.
Oh, and try not to pretend it’s a lightsabre when you extend it… (just me? 😄)
