Mono M80, Classic Dual Electric Guitar Case Review
The Best Guitar Case Money Can BuyPrefer To Read Rather Than Watch?
Here Is A Complete Transcript Of The Video:So, you think hard cases offer better protection for your guitars? I used to think this way and would always turn up to gigs with two large, solid guitar cases. Great protection, although more trips to carry gear from my car, as you can’t really carry much else if each hand is taken up with the handle of a solid guitar case.
There is also the issue of where to store cases whilst you are playing the gig. Two large hard cases take up quite a lot of storage space.
Hard Cases Offer More Protection, Right?
How Much Would You Pay For Guitar Protection?
A friend told me about the Mono M80, Classic Dual Electric Guitar Case. When I first started looking at Mono M80 case, my initial thought was “Holy cow, that is one expensive case!”.
It took me a while to justify spending that much money on a guitar case and I spent quite a bit of time researching alternative cases before I made a purchase. I have now been using the Mono M80 case for a few years. I use the case when gigging, teaching and examining, so the case has done a lot of work.
Yes, this case is expensive, but it is an awesome product. I can easily carry two electric guitars on my back, leaving both hands free to carry the rest of my gear. Bandmates have often said “oh look, here comes one trip Hill” as all my guitar gear can be transported from car to stage in one go.
A Guitar Case That Lasts
The Mono M80 case still looks brand new, with no visible sign of wear on the outside.
String ends have slightly chewed the headstock area inside the case, although nothing compared to padded gig bags I have owned in the past that my guitars have decided to eat their way out of.
Great Guitar Case Design
Even if I am taking one guitar with me, I still use the Mono case as it isn’t massive considering it can hold two electric guitars. The Z-form design offers both guitars extreme protection and the case itself is not overly heavy for what it is.
There is a clever suspended headstock design which involves the neck sitting on a padded section and a secure Velcro strap holds the guitar in place, offering 360-degree protection.
Integrated ABS panels protect your instruments, much like a hard case, although the weight is much lower.
The cases are waterproof and are built to military specs, so I expect this case will last for many years to come.
In addition, there is another compartment at the headstock end which also includes a business card holder and pen holders.
Finally, there is a large pocket on the shoulder strap side of the case which I use to store setlists and any paperwork I need for gigs.
If you need even more storage, you can also purchase the Tick Accessory Case which attaches neatly to the Mono case.
Mono M80 Review Summary
To summarise, I am extremely happy with the Mono M80 Classic Dual Electric Guitar Case, and it has made my gigging life so much more enjoyable now that I can comfortably carry two electric guitars on my back and I know they are well protected.
Once again, yes, it is a costly purchase, although I wish I would have bought one sooner as it will last a very long time and anything that makes a musician’s life easier is a win as far as I’m concerned.
